Kanye West's Donda is ruling the streaming charts. The 27-track G.O.O.D./Def Jam set owns the entire Top 10 and all but three spots on Spotify's U.S. Top 25, while all 27 tracks are in the Top 30 on Apple Music.
The set also controls all but two spots on Apple's global Top 25, as well as four of the Top 5 and six of the Top 10 on the Spot's global chart.
Apple reports that the album was streamed 60m+ times in the U.S. on its first day at the platform, broke the streamery’s record for most-streamed album and artist in a day and (setting another record) hit #1 on Apple’s Top Albums chart in 152 countries during that same day. Donda became the third-most-played album on its first day ever on Apple. Cupertino has been a big supporter of the project even before its arrival, hosting three livestream events (two in Atlanta and one in Chicago) that built up anticipation.
As we mentioned previously, the album features such guests as JAY-Z, The Weeknd, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, Playboi Carti, Kid Cudi, Chris Brown, Pop Smoke, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, Jay Electronica and Swizz Beatz.
Giants like The Kid LAROI's "Stay," Lil Nas X's "Industry Baby," Olivia Rodrigo's "good 4 u," Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever," Doja Cat's "Need to Know," Glass Animals' "Heat Waves" and newcomer "Family Ties," by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, are among the only cuts interrupting Ye's total domination of the upper charts.
Could Donda be on its way to a streaming record? Stay tuned.
