The arrival of Aaliyah’s catalog at digital services begins with an impressive showing this Flipover Friday. Indie rapper YNW Melly, meanwhile, opens in the Top 10s for streaming and sales.
Aaliyah’s second album, One in a Million (Blackground/Empire)—the first to be released in the reissue rollout—is #1 at iTunes, landing there 25 years after its initial release. Various Aaliyah albums will come out weekly through 9/24.
Incarcerated Florida rapper YNW Melly is the lone artist making it into the Top 10 at Apple Music and iTunes this week as his Just a Matter of Slime (300) is #9 at sales and #4 in streams.
Elsewhere at iTunes, the prolific Sturgill Simpson parks The Ballad of Dood & Juanita (High Top Mountain/Thirty Tigers) at #3; Danny Gokey’s Jesus People (Capitol CMG) populates #7; and Anderson East’s Maybe We Never Die (Low Country Sound/Elektra) is at #10.
In addition to having the #1 cut at iTunes songs, Ed Sheeran’s second release from his upcoming album, “Visiting Hours” (Atlantic), drops in at #4.
