SONY PUB INKS GIL

Gilberto Gil, the Tropicália pioneer who has been a leading light of Brazilian music for six decades, has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing-administration agreement with Sony Music Publishing Brazil.

A two-time Grammy winner and four-time Latin Grammy honoree, Gil was most recently honored with the Latin Grammy for Best MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira) Album for 2018’s OK OK OK. He was the Latin Grammy Person of the Year in 2003, has been named UNESCO’s Artist for Peace and has been awarded France’s Légion d'Honneur and Sweden's Polar Music Prize. From 2003 to 2008, Gil served as Brazil’s Minister of Culture.

“Gilberto Gil is a creative genius,” said Aloysio Reis, Managing Director, Sony Music Publishing Brazil. “Since the ‘60s, his songs have written one of the most brilliant chapters in the history of our music. We are thrilled to be entrusted with the sweet responsibility of managing Gilberto’s catalog, an invaluable artistic treasure.”
