In a major blow to the fall festival season, Jazz Fest 2021—scheduled for 10/8–10/17—has been canceled. Organizers are now pinning their hopes on the 2022 edition, scheduled for 4/28/22-5/8/22, the traditional time frame for the festival.
A Jazz Fest spokesman released a statement Sunday afternoon saying, “As a result of the current exponential growth of new COVID cases in New Orleans and the region and the ongoing public health emergency, we must sadly announce that the 2021 edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will not occur as planned.” Cases in New Orleans are up 91% over the last 14 days, with much of the rest of Louisiana even higher.
It's one of the first major festivals that moved to the fall to be canceled.
Ticketholders for both the 2021 and 2020 (previously canceled) iteration of Jazz Fest will be sent an email offering refunds and other options; Ticketholders for the 10/13 show by The Rolling Stones will automatically be issued refunds.
In addition to The Stones, the 2021 lineup had included Dead & Company, Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, Lizzo and Demi Lovato. The lineup for 2022 is TBD.
