A WAVE OF POSITIVE CHANGE

Primary Wave and its Radical Equality Task Force recently launched Industry Hour, a five-part video series focusing on the changes necessary in the music industry, the justice system and the workplace. Hosted by PW’s Lorena Garcia, the series features conversations with changemakers fighting for racial equality and justice.

Previous episodes have featured social activist and Lava Records founder Jason Flom, discussing criminal justice reform with Jimmy Dennis, who served 25 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, and Naz Fatemian, Director of Marketing & Partnerships at The Music Forward Foundation, in conversation with artist John Aqua and student/aspiring entertainment professional Mariam Boyadjian.

The most recent Industry Hour conversation aired 7/27. It showcases Last Prisoner Project’s Mary Bailey and prison reform activist Michael Thompson, who served 25 years in prison for possession of cannabis, in a discussion of criminal justice reform. Watch it here.

The remaining episodes, set for 8/10 and 8/24, will present Noelle Scaggs and Jonathan Azu of the Coalition of Festivals and Black Music Action Coalition founders and committee members.

Previous Industry Hour episodes can be viewed on Primary Wave's YouTube channel; new episodes are available on Tuesdays at 5pm ET/2pm PT.
