New singles from The Kid LAROI, Post Malone and CTE Flackoo got thumbs wagging this past week, but it’s a cover of a Nirvana classic that’s leading the Biggest Movers on the Shazam USA Top 100.
Malia J’s version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Think up Anger) storms into the Top 5 of the U.S. chart after being used during the opening titles of the Marvel film Black Widow. Malia J knows her way around a cover, having previously earned synchs for her versions of Tears for Fears and Buffalo Springfield songs.
Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Human” (Columbia), a 2017 release, also worked its way into the Biggest Movers list thanks to a placement in the Netflix series Virgin River.
Three brand-new releases also have thumbs wagging: The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber’s “Stay” (Columbia), Post Malone’s “Motley Crew” (Republic) and CTE Flackoo’s “Chase Hunnnits” (1016505).
The U.K., meanwhile, is going nuts for the new ones from London Grammar and Dave & Stormzy, plus catalog tracks from Neil Diamond, New Order and Fleetwood Mac—no, not “Dreams."
