VIRGIN MUSIC EXPLORES BRAZIL

UMG’s Virgin Music Label & Artist Services has launched a new division in Brazil to focus on independent Brazilian artists, labels and entrepreneurs.

Miguel Cariello (pictured) will lead the unit as General Manager, Virgin Music Label & Artist Services, Brazil. He has served as Content and GTS Director for Universal Music Brazil since 2017.

Virgin Music Label & Artist Services Brazil’s first deal is with Work Show, a top sertanejo label, that will expand the reach of the form and Brazilian music culture overall. The first signing is the duo Henrique & Juliano, who bring their catalog with them.

“I’m 100% confident we are starting a new cycle of major contributions to the Brazilian music environment with the joining forces of Work Show and Virgin Music Brazil,” says Work Show founder and CEO Wander Oliveira.

Paulo Lima, President of Universal Music Brazil, said: “There is no doubt that we are launching one of the most extraordinary business models in the Brazilian music industry. This game-changing partnership will help establish new expressive milestones among artists and audiences.”
