In our latest roundup, we present four rising professionals from various parts of the biz whose dedication and effort make their superiors look good.
This week's entrants will also find their faces in our most-recent mag. Lucky for them, this feature—plus 12.99—will get them a celebratory macrobiotic, vegan, raw, gluten-free cookie.
Jasmine Holloway
Manager, Commercial Operations, Virgin Music
Holloway recalls with lingering awe the time she basked in the glow of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis as they cracked each other up reminiscing about some of their iconic hits, including Janet Jackson’s Control (Jasmine loves her some mid-’80s Janet). The comm-ops overseer is today supporting new releases by artists like Vince Staples, Ebhoni, Rema and Polo & Pan, among others. Beloved for her mad gift-giving skills—the trick is filing away folks’ “fun facts”—Holloway would’ve given us just about anything to avoid this dishonorable mention.
Zebb Luster
VP/GM, River House Artists
Luster bears the distinction of being River House’s first hire, landing in 2017 as a publishing manager after making a name for himself in Nashville founding the songwriter’s spotlight YNOT Wednesdays. At RHA, he’s signed Nicolette Hayford, Drew Parker, Driver Williams, Jordan Rowe and Neil Medley and as VP/GM is also helping shepherd the careers of Luke Combs, Southerland and Billy Strings. A Florida native, Luster comes from an agricultural family and has a degree in Diversified Agriculture. He certainly is cultivating a bumper crop of talent.
Taylor Sloane
Director, Marketing and Artist Development, UMG Nashville
The 2018 Country Music Awards were a milestone for Sloane as UMG Nashville artists Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton cleaned up, the latter earning a trio of trophies, including Song of the Year. Job satisfaction subsequently arrived via Sloane’s navigation of the pandemic from her dining-room table, where she performed feats of creative marketing building the fanbases of artists like Mickey Guyton, Jordan Davis and Travis Denning. She can also do actual backflips, having been a championship cheerleader. It seems Sloane has always had pep in her step.
Charles “C.J.” Cook
Manager & Head of Artist Relations, Range Media Partners
“Every day in the studio with PARTYNEXTDOOR is the best day of my career,” says Cook of the artist he’s worked with since 2017. He’s also pretty pumped about Wale’s album Folarin 2, for which he’s handling creative and rollout; Midland’s tequila, Insolito, which he’s promoting with experiential lifestyle activations; and signing producer/director Bert Marcus, who won an Emmy for his HBO documentary The Apollo. Cook is also an Aviation Operations Specialist in the Florida Army National Guard who’s served in Iraq and Kuwait. We thank him for his service.
