MIKE CURB FIGHTS TENNESSEE'S NEW "BATHROOM BILL"

Get down with your bad self, Mike Curb! The Curb Records founder and Curb Foundation philanthropist has thrown his weight behind a challenge to a restrictive “bathroom bill” in Tennessee by filing a federal lawsuit against Governor Bill Lee.

The regressive new legislation requires businesses to post signs if they intend to allow transgender people to use the bathroom of their choosing. Republicans claim the lawsuit isn’t discriminatory, that it merely ensures a person’s privacy. But Curb isn’t having it:

“My grandmother Eloisa Salazar faced incredible discrimination as she grew up on the Mexico-U.S. border, and her experience shaped my family’s and my company’s values. It is hard to believe that our LGBT community in Tennessee is being assaulted with so much harmful legislation, much of it being signed by Governor Lee, at a time when our country needs to come together more than ever before."

The bill is scheduled to become law today (7/1), leaving Curb and other business leaders against the resolution pinning hopes on an injunction. The ACLU has filed a separate suit. Stay tuned.
