NOLAN TO HEAD
MOTOWN MARKETING

Brian Nolan has joined the leadership team of Motown Records as Executive Vice President of the label and EVP Marketing, reporting to Motown Chairman/CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam.

Nolan will oversee the label's marketing teams and initiatives. Prior to joining Motown, he was EVP of Capitol Music Group and head of seventeenfifty.

“As we continue to build Motown, I’m excited to bring together leaders who are not only innovative in their approach to their work but thoughtful, deliberate and committed to supporting our artists and bringing their vision to the world,” Habtemariam said. “Brian sees the big picture and draws from his experience in promotion, international marketing, brand partnerships and sync, giving him an understanding of how to connect the dots and create synergies for robust, well-rounded global campaigns.”

At CMG, Nolan enacted deals for Lil Baby and PepsiCo; secured a series of initiatives for Halsey with Beats by Dre, including the 2019 global holiday campaign that helped propel the artist’s single “Without Me”; sewed up the Mountain Dew and Migos agreement that featured the trio and their song “Position to Win”; and placed Migos’ “Stir Fry” in TNT’s 2018 All Star Weekend promotional spots. He was also soundtrack producer for the Netflix film To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.

Prior to joining CMG in 2017, Nolan spent 12 years at Columbia Records, rising to Vice President of International Marketing. He led the international marketing campaign for David Bowie’s album and for work by such artists as Depeche Mode, John Mayer and Russ.
