BLACK QUEER TOWN HALL RETURNS

The second Black Queer Town Hall will stream Saturday and Sunday (6/26-27), beginning at 8pm ET with appearances by Big Freedia, Wolf Hudson, Shea Diamond and others.

Peppermint and Bob the Drag Queen will host and produce the event, which will feature performances, roundtable discussions and fundraising opportunities for #BlackLivesMatter, Black LGBTQ+ organizations and local Black LGBTQ+ drag performers.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy will be honored with the Black Queer Excellence Award. A Black transgender activist, she is a veteran of the Stonewall Riots, a former sex worker and a survivor of Dannemora Prison and Bellevue Hospital’s “queen tank.” She currently mentors her “gurls” from Little Rock, Ark., where she runs House of GG, a retreat center for Black trans and gender-nonconforming people.

“We've all learned a lot over the past year,” said Peppermint. “One of the most apparent things is that the work is not done. Bob and I are dedicated to connecting everyone with the initiative to love and support and nurture queerness and Blackness equally.”
