Harvey Mason Jr. has named two executives to take on the role of Co-President of The Recording Academy, diversity exec Valeisha Butterfield Jones and Berklee College of Music SVP Panos A. Panay.
Mason’s title will shift to CEO. The moves take effect 8/16.
Butterfield Jones, currently Chief DEI Officer, will continue to oversee diversity, equity and inclusion efforts along with the Academy's people and culture, membership, awards and advocacy areas. Panos will also be Chief Revenue Officer, driving business growth across the entire organization.
In a note to Academy members, Mason wrote: “Both are dynamic leaders with proven records of success. They will be joining recently elevated Chief Operating Officer Branden Chapman and Chief Industry Officer Ruby Marchand as part of a modernized leadership team. This new structure will allow the organization to better serve our members and celebrate the music community as we continue to build and transform our Academy together.”
