MUSIC’S HOTTEST FIRMS: GREENBERG TRAURIG

Among the first law firms in the country to create a branded-media practice, Greenberg Traurig has emerged as a predominant global player in the digital space, featuring the largest worldwide practice in entertainment and media.

Atlanta Shareholder Bobby Rosenbloum was named Chairman of GT’s Global Entertainment & Media Practice in January 2020. Widely considered one of the primary architects of the modern digital music business, Rosenbloum has overseen and advised on deals that have generated more than $3 billion of value for the global music biz over the past year alone. His practice focuses on the negotiation of complex content agreements with record companies, music publishers, PROs, movie studios and TV networks, while also providing strategic counseling. Over the past 27 years, Rosenbloum has developed an unparalleled legal practice, counseling more than 200 businesses, including Fortune 500 companies and prominent start-ups on their global digital media strategies. Recently, Rosenbloum has become one of the leading attorneys representing companies in connection with the launch of non-fungible-token (NFT) offerings in the entertainment and sports industries, based on his deep knowledge of content licensing, technology and rights management.

The founder of GT’s Los Angeles Entertainment Practice, Shareholder Jay L. Cooper focuses his practice on music industry, film, TV, digital and IP issues. Cooper handles IP matters including recording and publishing agreements for artists and composers; actor, director, producer and writer agreements in film/TV; executive employment agreements; complex acquisitions and sales of entertainment catalogs; and production agreements on behalf of music, TV, and film companies. Cooper’s clients include Katy Perry, Jerry Seinfeld, Sheryl Crow, Yo-Yo Ma, John Williams, Mark Mancina, The Voice, Mel Brooks, Mike Love, the estates of John Denver, Glen Campbell, Etta James, James Horner and Bobby Darin, motion-picture producer Mace Neufeld, and film writer David Seidler.

New York and Atlanta Shareholder Lawrence A. Kanusher represents clients in complex entertainment, media, IP and technology transactions related to the acquisition and exploitation of recorded-music and musical-work rights. He has more than 30 years of music-industry experience, including a variety of in-house business-affairs, business-development and legal-affairs roles at major labels, focusing on digital business, technology, entertainment and IP. Prior to joining GT, Kanusher served as SVP of Business and Legal Affairs for the Global Digital Business Group at Sony Music.
