JOHNSON CREW:
EPIC RESTRUCTURES URBAN PROMO STAFF

Epic's Urban Promotion department is undergoing a restructuring; EVP Promo Traci Adams has announced that Cynthia Johnson and Cory "Sparks" Johnson have both been upped to VP, Urban Promotion.

Adams, to whom both will report, also unveiled a panoply of regional staff appointments. Let's review those now, shall we?

Maurice Harley has been tapped as Regional Midwest Manager, Urban Promotion, based in Chicago; erstwhile Carolinas Regional Manager Stephen Campbell will relocate to NYC, newly promoted to New York Regional Manager; McKayla Sibblies will take over the Carolinas spot from Charlotte, N.C.; and Sylvon Marshall, based in L.A., will add Mixshow & Lifestyle to his current portfolio as West Coast Regional Manager. All will report directly to Adams.

Cory Johnson, the man known as "Sparks" (a moniker also bestowed on a HITS intern who broke the office microwave, but that's another story), has been Epic's National Director, Promotion, since 2018. He began his biz career at IGA in 2006 as Southeast Regional Promotions Director. He has also worked at eOne.

Cynthia Johnson most recently served at Columbia as VP Urban Promotion. Having begun her career in radio promotion in 1986, she has held posts at MCA, Arista, Motown, J, Warner Bros. and IGA.

Adams praised Cory Johnson as a longtime "team player" whose "relationships with our partners in the marketplace are vital to Epic’s continued success"; she hailed Cynthia Johnson as "a driving force who elevates established artists to gold, platinum and multiplatinum status while attaining countless #1s on the charts.”

She further advised the entire promo team to send our calls to voice mail.
