Hip-hop A&R hitter Chelsea Blythe has been appointed SVP A&R at Def Jam Recordings, Interim CEO Jeff Harleston has announced.
In her new role, Blythe will oversee select current and new artist projects, while actively discovering and signing new talent to Def Jam. She will be based in Santa Monica and report directly to Harleston.
“I’m excited to welcome Chelsea to the Def Jam family,” said Harleston. “I’m confident her instincts and acumen will immediately be felt within the A&R team and the company as a whole.”
Blythe began her career in music with the A&R Department at Interscope in 2012 as the label developed such talents as Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Mike WiLL Made-it and Rae Sremmurd. Chelsea moved to Columbia in 2016.
New Def Jam colleague Snoop Dogg is preparing a hotbox session to welcome Blythe to the West Coast office.
