ARLO PARKS LEADS AIM AWARDS NOMS

Buzzing new artist Arlo Parks leads this year's U.K. AIM Independent Music Awards nominations with four nods, while Yorkshire synthpop band Working Men’s Club are shortlisted for three. The virtual ceremony will take place as a global livestream on 8/25.

Parks is in the running for Best Independent Album and Best Independent Track for her #3-charting debut, Collapsed in Sunbeams (Transgressive), and its final single, “Hope,” for which she’s also nominated for Best Independent Video. In addition, she’s up for U.K. Independent Breakthrough following a sell-out U.S. tour.

Working Men’s Club are up for Best Independent Album for their acclaimed self-titled debut (Heavenly Recordings), as well as Independent Breakthrough and Best Creative Packaging.

After scooping the Innovator award last year, AJ Tracey returns to the shortlist with nominations for Best [Difficult] Second Album and Best Creative Packaging for Flu Game (Revenge Records). Rappers Che Lingo, Lava La Rue and Tkay Maidza also received two nominations each.

Alongside the artist nominees, Partisan Records, Transgressive Records and Forever Living Originals received nods in the Best Independent Label category, while the Best Small Label category numbers Killing Moon, Strut Records and Sonic Cathedral among its contenders.

This year’s ceremony will be a free public event. AIM has confirmed ON AIR, YouTube and Facebook as destinations where fans can tune in to watch the awards.
