ASCAP has announced that it will present songwriter/producers Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and D-Nice with the prestigious Voice of the Culture Award to kick off 2021's ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on 6/22.
The award, presented to ASCAP members who have had a major influence on music and culture, will recognize their success as creators of VERZUZ and Club Quarantine, virtual events that became touchstones of empowerment through music during the pandemic.
Immediately following the awards presentation, at 12pm ET, the trio will take part in a special 2021 ASCAP Experience conversation called Voices of the Culture: How Swizz Beatz, Timbaland & D-Nice United the World Through Music.
The panel will explore how Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s VERZUZ and D-Nice’s Club Quarantine became sources of uplift in the Black music community. The three creators will also reflect on the influence they've had on hip-hop, R&B and entertainment.
