Snoop Dogg is joining Def Jam Recordings as Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant. As a senior strategic advisor to the label, he’ll be focusing on A&R and creative development.

Expecting to find Snoop behind the desk from 9 to 5 in a plume of smoke are his new bosses, Universal Music Group Chairman/CEO Sir Lucian Grainge and Def Jam interim Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Harleston.

“We’re thrilled that the one and only Snoop Dogg is bringing his deep industry experience, strong relationships, boundless creativity and infectious energy to Def Jam,” Grainge said. “Now, why is there so much resin on these contracts?”

Said Harleston, who has known Calvin Broadus Jr. for more than 20 years. “Not only does Snoop understand what it takes to be a successful artist, he is one of the most creative, strategic and entrepreneurial people I know. Snoop has a genuine passion for the label and the culture, and we are all excited to have Snoop join the Def Jam Family.”

The UMG commissary will soon begin a daily happy hour during which gin & juice and Corona Extra will be served—with a blunt chaser, of course.
