IGA + CMG = SYNERGY

Interscope Geffen A&M and Yo Gotti’s CMG are touting a new partnership that will find them continuing to develop acts like Moneybagg Yo and 42 Dugg.

As you may recall, Bagg scored a #1 bow a short time ago with A Gangster’s Pain and returned to the #1 spot not long thereafter and remains in the Top 5. 42 Dugg, for his part, had a Top 10 debut with Free Dem Boyz, which is also holding its ground on the chart.

“With 25 years under his belt as a successful artist, label head, manager and entrepreneur, Yo Gotti has built an impressive legacy in hip-hop and remains one of the most exciting voices in music,” said IGA boss John Janick. “We look forward to working closely with Gotti’s team to continue to build upon CMG’s incredible run in our business.”

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for John Janick, Steve Berman, Nicole Wyskoarko and the entire Interscope team and their track record of success,” reads a quote from Gotti. “We share the same vision about winning—we want to break barriers, disrupt the industry and develop the next generation of superstars. I’m thrilled to partner with them as I continue focusing on CMG’s expansion.”

“Gotti’s decades-long ability to consistently identify the next important wave of talent is very rare in our business,” noted A&R Co-Head Wyskoarko. “We’re excited about all of the new artists he and his team are currently developing and can’t wait to get started.”

Memphis native Gotti, who became a platinum-selling artist in the '90s, has cultivated Memphis acts such as Moneybagg, Blac Youngsta and BlocBoy JB on CMG; the label has expanded its scouting to recruit Detroiter 42 Dugg and Louisville’s EST Gee.
