CHANT FOR INDIA

International Kirtan stars are coming together on Sunday, 6/6, for Chant for India, an online benefit concert raising funds to help combat the COVID-19 crisis on the subcontinent.

Featuring Grammy nominees Krishna Das, Deva Premal & Mitten, Jai Uttal and Snatam Kaur as well as Sopurkh Singh and Manose, the event will kick off at 9:15am PT/12:15pm ET. Proceeds will go directly to Sri Ramakrishna Mission, which is funding equipment and other urgent needs of the 12 Andhra Medical College (AMC) hospitals in India.

India is suffering one of the most extreme outbreaks since the pandemic began. Government hospitals are offering free healthcare to aid under-resourced communities.

“I have never seen such devastation and suffering in the land of my birth, and it’s truly imperative that anyone who has been touched by the Indian spirituality of Kirtan (chanting), yoga, dharma or meditation offer what they can to help the country and people who brought these beautiful and meaningful practices to the world,” said Ashoka Nalamalapu, event co-organizer and founder of Swan Kirtan.

Co-organizer BrightStar Live Events will be donating its ticketing, streaming and promotion services to the relief effort. Additional supporters include the Share Wisdom Network, which is contributing free livestream technical support, Sadhana, Nalamalapu’s nonprofit organization, and PR consultant Susan von Seggern.

Registration for the event is free; attendees are encouraged to donate. To register, click here.
