SONY UPS THOMAS TO EVP, CORNIA TO SVP

Sony Music has upped Melissa Thomas to EVP, International Marketing, U.S. Repertoire and tapped Monica Cornia as SVP of Sales, Commercial Music Group.

Thomas will report to SMG boss Rob Stringer; Cornia will report to EVP and GM, Sales, Commercial Music Group Darren Stupak.

Thomas most recently held the title of SVP, International Marketing, U.S. Repertoire, and has helped spearhead campaigns for Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, DJ Khaled, The Kid LAROI, GIVĒON and many more. The Native Canadian began her career at Sony Music U.K. in 2005.

“Melissa knows how to harness the global power of our Company to help break our U.S. artists around the world,” reads a quote from Stringer. “Her teams, in conjunction with our U.S. Record Labels, have created unique marketing campaigns that resonate with audiences and push our artists to success. I’m so happy that Melissa will be leading our U.S. Repertoire’s international marketing team for the future.”

Cornia has stepped into her new role following a three-year tenure as Co-Head of the International Marketing department for U.S. repertoire, working on successful campaigns for acts like Doja Cat, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, Khalid, Tate McRae and P!nk, among others. A former VP of International Marketing at RCA, the UCLA grad (who majored in Political Science and German, both ideal preparation for the music biz) enjoyed a prior chapter of her career in management at Vector (where she repped Ke$ha) and Sanctuary.

“From the very start of Monica’s career at Sony Music,” goes a quote from Stupak, “she has always embodied our artist-first approach, showing fantastic insight, expertise and a strong track record in bringing our U.S. artists to new audiences.”

Both execs look forward to avoiding our calls.
