SPOTIFY LAUNCHES BLACK CULTURE INITIATIVE FREQUENCY

Spotify has launched Frequency, a global initiative celebrating Black art, entertainment, creativity, culture and community, both on and off the platform. Through the rollout of new content, cultural partnerships and an ambassador program, Frequency aims to further connect the Black community to upcoming and established Black creators.

The full slate of offerings includes a $50k scholarship fund for Black college students; a songwriting camp; playlist franchises like This Is Frequency, House Party and Ripple Effect; podcasts; and off-platform content series ASCENT, which captures a day in the life of content creators with a growing social presence.

Frequency builds on Spotify's recent initiatives to honor Black culture such as Black History Is Happening Now and a commitment to invest further in Black creators through its $10m Racial Equity Donations & Giving Program.

Visit the Frequency hub here and learn more here about the team behind it, which spans Head of Hip-Hop and R&B, Artist & Label Partnerships, Sydney Lopes, Associate Music Marketing Manager Francine Tamakloe, Global Music Marketing Lead Ryan Chappell, Hip-Hop and R&B Manager, Artist & Label Partnerships, Kimmy Summers, Music Editorial, Head of R&B Mjeema Pickett, Supervising Creative Producer Dfiza Yador and Black Music + Culture Editor Domo
