Geffen breakout Olivia Rodrigo's Saturday Night Live debut, during which she performed smash "drivers license" and rollicking new hit "good 4 u" (see both below), has helped propel the latter cut to #1 at Spotify U.S. and into the Top 5 on the streamery's Global Top 50. While SNL doesn't always move the needle, Rodrigo is clearly an exception. Her album bow, SOUR, is set to drop on 5/21.
It's notable that the spiky power-pop of "good," featuring Rodrigo's boldest vocals yet, is very much in the tradition of the pop-punk chart-busters nurtured by label boss John Janick during his Fueled by Ramen days.
As this was Saturday Night Live, the episode also naturally featured many sketches that could have been shorter.
