Julia Michaels has teamed with Influence Media Partners on an acquisition deal that includes a portfolio of select copyrights from her catalog as a solo artist and songwriter.
Highlights include Michaels' publishing stake in her own hits such as “Issues,” “I Miss You” (with Clean Bandit), “Carry Me” (with Kygo) and “Friends” (with Justin Bieber & BloodPop), as well as songs performed by Selena Gomez (“Bad Liar,” “Hands to Myself”), Bieber (“Sorry”), Ed Sheeran (“Dive”), P!nk (“Barbies”) and many more.
“Like Carole King, Sia and Bruno Mars before her, Julia Michaels belongs in the pantheon of great songwriters who can write classics for themselves as well as other artists,” said Lylette Pizarro, founder and Co-Managing Partner of Influence Media. “We’ve wanted to be in business with Julia since the days we were founded, in 2018, and are thrilled that her team took a chance on us in what was a very competitive deal-making process.”
The Michaels acquisition is the second from Influence Media’s female-focused music fund with Municipal Employees’ Retirement System of Michigan, which carries an initial value of up to $100m in investable capital. Their first joint acquisition was for works by Ali Tamposi.
