JOY OLADOKUN’S “BIGGER MAN”

Joy Oladokun has joined forces with Grammy winner Maren Morris for her latest single, "Bigger Man."

Arriving today (5/14), the track is Oladokun’s second single release since she signed a joint label deal with Amigo Records, Verve Forecast and Republic. "Bigger Man," written by Oladokun, Morris, Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz, will appear on the singer/songwriter's forthcoming major-label debut album.

Reflecting on the song, Oladokun said, “In my life, I sometimes experience being the youngest and the most inexperienced, yet I have to conduct myself as though I'm way beyond my years or level of maturity. I think it’s an old feeling, especially for women and people of color, of having to be stronger, better, brighter and harder-working at everything just to get a shot. We wrote from that place—I’m really proud of what we did.”

The child of Nigerian immigrants, Nashville-based Oladokun has also released the single “breathe again,” from 2020’s in defense of my own happiness (the beginning), as well as “sorry isn’t good enough,” “jordan” and “wish you the best” f/Jensen McRae.

Part of YouTube Music’s Black Voices Class of 2021, Spotify’s RADAR U.S. program, NPR Music/Slingshot and Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch, Oladokun was recently highlighted in Hulu’s Your Attention Please: The Concert alongside artists like 24kGoldn, Kiana Ledé, Lil Yachty and Swae Lee and is slated to perform at Bonnaroo in September.
