Sony Music Publishing is BMI’s Publisher of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. Chairman/CEO Jon Platt and his team were honored for having 24 top-performing songs.
BMI started rolling out its 2021 Pop Awards today, singling out Sony for songs such as “I Hope,” “Rain on Me,” “death bed (coffee for your head)” and “Supalonely.”
Sony Music Publishing’s songwriter honorees include Dominic Fike, beabadoobee, Sam Smith, Gabby Barrett, JP Saxe, Camila Cabello, Lady Gaga, Wayne Coyne, Steven Drozd, JAWSH 685 and Ed Sheeran.
Maren Morris and Laura Veltz’s “The Bones” was named Song of the Year. Publishers on the track are Big Music Machine, Purple Hayes Publishing and Warner-Tamerlane. Halsey was named Songwriter of the Year. For the complete list of awards, click here.
With the formal wear tucked away in closets, Platt, Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston, SVP Creative Ian Holder and SVP Creative Jennifer Knoepfle accepted the awards from the comfort of their offices.
