AEG'S ON A PATH TO A GREENER FUTURE

AEG Presents has created a green team to move the live business toward a more ecologically sound future. Marketing execs Amy Morrison and Nicole Neal will head the Climate Positive Touring unit.

The focus is on reducing tour-related carbon emissions to net zero or better, supporting locally led environmental and climate-justice programs and making an impact on both the operations side of touring and the experience itself.

Said AEG Presents Chairman and CEO Jay Marciano, “The company’s reach enables us to execute at every level of the live experience—from clubs and theaters to arenas, global tours and festivals. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Climate Positive Touring group begins to implement their plans as the business starts to reopen this year.”

People who work across various business divisions at AEG Presents—Concerts West, Global Touring, International Touring, Marshall Arts, Messina Touring Group and Global Partnerships—make up the CPT unit, which has created and deployed two major initiatives thus far.

First is the Venue Environmental Survey, a resource designed to gather reliable data that will allow venues, artists and CPT to work together to identify sustainability priorities and solutions.

Secondly, the CPT Green Touring Guide is being developed to promote leadership by example and through innovation, and to provide guidance and insights that promoters can use to show venues and artists a path forward to net zero or better carbon emissions. The first installment of the Guide is a compendium of seven actions promoters can take to effect positive environmental change.

“We’ve been working on this since the earliest days of the shutdown,” Morrison said. “Now that live music is coming back, we can put our goals into action. As promoters, we will put our message on the road, modeling achievable sustainability, with the power of music in our sails.”
