The Weeknd is the latest star to join the BRIT Awards lineup, though due to current pandemic restrictions, his performance will be filmed remotely. He’s nominated in the International Male Solo Artist category for the third time.
Yet to win a BRIT, The Weeknd last performed at the ceremony in 2016. This year he’s up against Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Burna Boy and Bruce Springsteen. After his much-discussed snubbing by the Grammys, will he find victory in Blighty?
Others set to perform on 5/11 include Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Arlo Parks, Griff, Headie One, Olivia Rodrigo and Rag’n’Bone Man & P!nk (who will also appear remotely) with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.
The Weeknd’s most recent album, After Hours (Island), hit #1 in the U.K. in 2020. Lead single “Blinding Lights” spent eight non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart and was crowned the best-selling track of the year.
