Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope superstar J. Cole announced in a tweet today that his sixth studio album, The Off-Season, is on the way—the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018's KOD will arrive next Friday, 5/14.
While those familiar with Cole were expecting the project to be the long-awaited The Fall Off, the Dreamville captain has pivoted.
KOD opened at #1 with nearly 400k units, shattering streaming records at the time; of the first-week total, 174k units were pure sales.
In 2019 Dreamville released a compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III, which also debuted at #1. It featured Cole's smash single, "Middle Child," which likewise broke streaming records, with more than 1b on-demand streams (U.S.), and is now certified 6x platinum.
Will fans get a taste of the album before its street date? Stay tuned.
Just know this was years in the making.
