U.K. MIDWEEKS: JONES-ING FOR A #1

Tom Jones is heading for his first U.K. Official Albums #1 in two decades as Surrounded by Time (EMI) leads the race at midweek. Lil Nas X looks set for another week on top at singles.

Jones’ 41st album takes the lead today with the most CD and download sales over the weekend. John Lennon is a new entry at #2 with the 50th-anniversary edition of his first solo album, Plastic Ono Band (Apple Corps).

An expanded version of The Who’s third studio album, The Who Sell Out (Polydor), is also new at #4. Dinosaur Jr. is in pursuit of its first Top 10 album in 28 years with Sweep It Into Space (Jagjaguwar) at #9, while Scouting for Girls could earn a fifth Top 10 with Easy Cover (Near Wild Heaven) at #10.

At #11, Sunderland rock band Field Music’s Flat White Moon (Memphis Industries) could become their highest-charting album.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)” (RCA) looks set for a fifth week at #1.

Tion Wayne and Russ Millions collaboration “Body” (Atlantic) could be on track for a new peak this week, up seven places to #7, and a similar jump is in the cards for The Weeknd as “Save Your Tears” (Island) flies seven rungs to #14 in 48 hours thanks to the release of its new remix with Ariana Grande.

Sydney rapper Masked Wolf’s breakout track, “Astronaut in the Ocean” (Elektra), continues to climb—it’s up three places to #13—and Majestic’s reworking of Boney M’s “Rasputin” (Sony) is on the cusp of breaking the Top 20, up six places so far this week to #21.
