APPLE TV SERIES EXPLORES WHAT WAS GOING ON IN 1971

Universal Music Group’s Mercury Studios is producing an eight-part docuseries on the significance of the year 1971 in music, when The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Joni Mitchell and others were releasing landmark works.

Asif Kapadia and James Gay-Rees, the team behind the Amy Winehouse doc Amy, head of Universal U.K. David Joseph and UMG’s Adam Barker are executive producing 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything, which will be shown on Apple TV+ beginning 5/21.

Kapadia, Danielle Peck and James Rogan are the series’ directors.
