PLATT PROMOTES HOLDER TO SVP

Sony Music Publishing has promoted Ian Holder to Senior Vice President, Creative. Based at SMP’s New York office, Holder will be responsible for contributing to the company’s A&R initiatives throughout the U.S. and will help lead its growing presence in Atlanta.

“I am incredibly proud of Ian’s growth, passion and instincts as a creative executive,” said Sony Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Jon Platt. “I’m equally proud of his emergence as a leader.”

At SMP, Holder signed signed Jack Harlow, who’s hit “WHATS POPPIN,” was one of 2020’s breakout tracks. “Ian is the reason I’m with Sony—he immediately made me feel at home,” Harlow said. “After I joined SMP, he continued to call me and not only connect me with new talent but check in on my mental state. I am grateful to call him a friend.”

In addition to Harlow, Holder has developed prominent songwriters including Moneybagg Yo, Lil Tjay, Lil Durk and Felisha King, among others. Prior to joining SMP in 2017, Holder spent 10 years at BMI, where he was Director of Writer & Publisher Relations and signed artists including Post Malone, Frank Ocean, Rae Sremmurd and Pusha-T.
