FAREWELL, JONAS

Jonas Cash passed away on 4/13 of natural causes; he was 81. Jonas’ career started in the late ‘50s at Baltimore’s Buddy Deane Show. That gig led to his first label job, with Monument Records (renowned, back then, as the home of Roy Orbison). He went on to launch Jonas Cash Promotions, based in the Mid-Atlantic region, and then the company for which he would be best known, A.I.R. (Active Industry Research), which was founded in 1983 and operated until 2005. Radio programmers competed for coveted prizes by calling in to gauge a song’s chart potential.

Jonas was a beloved figure in the radio and record communities; our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones. Please visit this link to send a message and memorial contributions.
