ALL POINTS EAST ADDS A DAY

AEG Presents London festival All Points East has optimistically added a third day to its outing scheduled for the last weekend of August. Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club are headlining.

Foals will headline on the newly announced Monday, while Jamie xx and Kano will do so on Saturday. Bicep will lead the bill for Sunday’s special Field Day edition. Saturday and Sunday are already sold out; tickets for 8/30 go on sale Friday.

Other acts booked for Monday include Caribou, Gang Of Youths, Roisin Murphy, Whitney, Jade Bird, and Tune-Yards.

The event is among many British festivals with line-ups and dates announced for summer, despite ongoing uncertainty over whether mass-scale events will be allowed to operate and under financially viable circumstances.

U.K. Culture Minister Caroline Dinenage said Wednesday that the British Government is reluctant to introduce a much called-for insurance scheme for music festivals to avoid offering false hope.

At a DCMS inquiry on the challenges faced by British festivals, she said: “As the minister responsible for this, I would much rather be able to make an announcement when I am absolutely certain things can go ahead, or at least in a much better sense of predictability that things can go ahead, than announce an indemnity scheme, give people the confidence in order to pull the rug out from underneath them again.”
