NOISEMAKERS:
STARS OF TOMORROW

In our latest roundup of Noisemakers, we present eight more rising professionals from different parts of the biz whose dedication and effort make their superiors look good.

This week's entrants will also find their faces in our most-recent mag—which makes a poor substitute for umbrellas.

Jamie Slade
Partner, Granderson Des Rochers LLP

As the head of GDR’s fashion, branding and lifestyle practice, Slade oversees all phases of brand development for the firm’s high-profile music clients. She was a member of the GDR team that recently represented A$AP Rocky in his cutting-edge endorsement agreement with Gucci, while, alongside Damien Granderson, she repped J. Balvin in recent deals with McDonald’s, Fortnite and Air Jordan, as well as spiritual-wellness leader Deepak Chopra. Of Nicaraguan descent, Jamie is integral to GDR’s Latinx practice and blazing a trail in representation for Latinx artists.

Will Tenney
Streaming Strategy & Promotion, Crush Music

While guiding the stream team at Crush, Tenney has been part of one the biggest rock launches in the last decade: the Hella Mega Global Stadium Tour with Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer. He’s also played a role in the substantial streaming growth of clients including Lykke Li, Terrace Martin and Sia, who’s currently the seventh-most-streamed artist on Spotify. A kart-racing fanatic, Will geeks out over data, maximizing algorithmic returns, predicting how records may perform over various time horizons and motocross.

Jake Posner
SVP of A&R & Head of N.Y. Ops, Hallwood Media; Founder, The Culture Theory

Searching the depths of Reddit, Posner struck gold with then-baby band A R I Z O N A in 2015, and watching them open for Panic! At the Disco at a sold-out Madison Square Garden four years later was a career highlight. Having helped build Neil Jacobson’s Hallwood, he’s looking forward to A R I Z O N A’s forthcoming third studio album and launching developing artists like Ryan Pulford and Sam MacPherson. Jake was in an episode of Cash Cab in 2008; how’s that for NYC clout?

Rida Naser
Program Director/On-Air Host, SiriusXM

Naser joined SiriusXM in 2014 as an intern on the influential, HITS1 in 2014 and worked her first major gig at Ultra Music Festival/Miami Music Week three years later before becoming the PD for the new Steve Aoki Remix Radio channel. She now spends her mornings hosting the daily on-air show on BPM while programming content for both BPM and Pop2K. Rida recently put together a virtual festival for BPM highlighting female artists, DJs and dance/music industry professionals. She’s the host with the most.

Chanel Auguste
Associate Director, International Marketing, Sony Music

Since arriving at Epic, Auguste has contributed to record-breaking global campaigns including Camila Cabello’s self-titled album, Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD and 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II. While backstage with Cabello at The Graham Norton Show, she was thrilled to meet Regina Hall. More recently, Chanel has been involved in developing acts like Charm La’Donna, DDG and Tyla Yaweh. The well-traveled exec is also a classically trained singer, with performances in Moscow, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall under her belt.

Josh Mulder
Agent, TBA Agency

Mulder brings a decade of experience from Billions and Paradigm to the newly launched TBA. One of his hottest clients, Remi Wolf, rose to prominence in 2020, landing a major iPhone spot, going viral on TikTok, impacting Alternative radio and selling out L.A.’s first sanctioned drive-in show—a big jump from playing the Silverlake Lounge in 2019. Josh is also working with Jawny, spill tab, Hope Tala, Orion Sun and Faye Webster as they prep for their 2021-22 tours. Confirmed as a headliner on his IG page: Shirley, his 14-year-old lab.

Karl Fowlkes
Managing Partner, The Fowlkes Firm; Music Business Professor, Rowan and Drexel University

Next-gen attorney Fowlkes closed multiple deals for fresh talent in the last year, including new 10K Projects/Mira Touch/Internet Money prodigy Dro Kenji and Warner Chappell’s Section 8 (“The Bigger Picture”), while launching music-loop production network The Melody App with producers Hit-Boy and Corbett. Somehow, he also finds time to teach music-business courses at both Rowan and Drexel. Up next for Karl: guiding rising indie star Blxst through the biz. On top of his legal chops, he guarantees he can beat your attorney in one-on-one hoops. We’ll take his word for it.

Diana Dotel
Co-Founder, MTW Agency

For Dotel, a veteran Latin-music talent booker, the current boom in the Latinx market plays right into her wheelhouse. Alongside client Becky G, she created En La Sala, a Latinx-focused podcast and talk show on Amazon Music and Twitch. Her connections to Latin music’s tastemakers, combined with MTW’s branding expertise, have led to partnerships with Bud Light (Sebastian Yatra) and Michelob (Maluma, Becky G), with a superstar-caliber Adidas deal on deck. Diana even surprised herself when she landed Vice President Kamala Harris as a guest on Becky G’s podcast during the campaign.
