The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has received the IFPI Global Digital Single Award for being the best-selling single of 2020 across all digital formats. The Top 10 includes a Chinese superstar, Billie Eilish, and SAINt JHN.
“Blinding Lights” delivered 2.72b subscription stream equivalents globally, hitting #1 in more than 30 countries, and shattered records for the most weeks in the Top 10 and Top 5 in the US.
“‘Blinding Lights’ was undoubtedly one of the year’s biggest record breakers and most loved songs. It caught the attention of music lovers all over the world,” Frances Moore, Chief Executive of IFPI, said.
The IFPI Global Digital Single Award is presented to the world’s– including single track downloads, and streams on both paid subscription services and ad-supported platforms.
