Epic rapper Bobby Shmurda received a warm welcome from the hip-hop community as he was released from prison Tuesday morning. Label boss Sylvia Rhone joined Quavo to celebrate with Shmurda, whose "Hot N***a" soared to #21 on Apple Music.
The viral rap star completed his six-year sentence ahead of schedule, having been granted conditional early release from the New York State Dept. of Corrections due to good behavior (his original release date was December 2021).
In 2018, while incarcerated, Shmurda appeared on 6ix9ine's "STOOPID." He also had two songs certified platinum, including "Hot N***a," and two certified gold while serving his sentence.
Colleague and labelmate Rowdy Rebel was likewise recently released from prison.
Shmurda plans to work on new music imminently.
