The European festivals of June and July are going away, but promoters are trying to lock the headliners in for 2022—just as they did for 2021—before they announce the cancellations, likely in the next few weeks.
European agents, promoters and managers have an understandably gloomy forecast for ’21; we’re told that Germany, France and Spain are so behind on vaccines that touring mainland Europe this year will be well-nigh impossible. The same sources report that ticket sales for many of the acts that moved their tours from 2020 to 2021 have been dismal, because people don’t believe the shows will happen and don’t want to fork over money that will not be returned if shows are pushed again.
