TIKTOK STRIKES A DEAL WITH UMG

Universal Music Group and TikTok have signed a global agreement that expands their existing relationship and promotes the development of new experiences while providing “equitable compensation” for recording artists and songwriters.

TikTok users will be able to use music from UMG’s full global catalog to soundtrack user-generated videos.

“UMG and TikTok will now work more closely than ever to promote ambitious experimentation, innovation and collaboration—with the shared objective of developing new music experiences and features,” said Michael Nash, Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy at UMG. The agreement includes “a commitment to develop industry-leading tools, A&R insights and models necessary to advance [artists’] careers.”

Meanwhile, there's this to savor: TikTok is still here, making fat deals, while Donald Trump is not only out of office but about to face his second impeachment trial.
