"Fight for You" by H.E.R. is the first salvo from RCA's soundtrack to the breathlessly awaited Warner Pictures film Judas and the Black Messiah. It has already been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, which in the entertainment field is known as a pretty strong start.
The Judas album, due 2/12, features contributions from hip-hop icon Nas as well as SiR, A$AP Rocky, Dom Kennedy, White Dave and more. The Shaka King-directed film is based on the startling true story of Black Panthers leader Fred Hampton and the FBI's machinations leading up to his murder. It hits theaters and HBO Max on 2/12. Daniel Kaluuya plays Hampton and LaKeith Stanfield co-stars as William O'Neal, whom the Feds recruited to get close to Hampton.
H.E.R. is slated to perform "Fight for You" on Colbert tonight (2/4), ahead of her 2/7 Super Bowl appearance. She co-produced the track with Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II; the pair co-wrote it with Tiara Thomas.
