PRIME TIME FOR VIDEO MUSIC CHANNEL

A new Amazon Prime Video channel, the Coda Collection, will exclusively feature concert films, music documentaries and series. Sony Music Entertainment is an equity partner; Rhino Entertainment and UMG’s Mercury Studios are among the content partners.

The channel will premiere 2/18 with more than 150 titles. Included in the initial offering are Johnny Cash at San Quentin, Miranda Lambert: Revolution Live by Candlelight, Bob Dylan’s Trouble No More and Music, Money, Madness… Jimi Hendrix in Maui. The cost is five bucks a month.

Coda's founders are Janie Hendrix, Yoko Ono, Jonas Herbsman, John McDermott and Jim Spinello, CEO of the channel.

"What’s being lost in today’s swarm of streaming services and search engines is the deep connection fueled by the stories surrounding the songs and artists we love,” Spinello said. “The Coda Collection is built to bring to life the stories between the songs for artists and fans."

The company has unearthed content from producers and vaults throughout the world. New and rarely seen performances by Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, AC/DC and others, plus previously unseen titles featuring Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, Dylan and Hendrix are in store.

The Coda Collection’s desktop and mobile site will feature editorial content overseen by former Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot. We doubt they’ll be quoting HITS.
