Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem at inauguration festivities for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on 1/20, while the musical celebration of the new administration will be televised that night.
The Foo Fighters, John Legend and Bruce Springsteen have been added to the bill for Celebrating America that includes Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Jon Bon Jovi and Ant Clemons. The 90-minute prime-time special that will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. There are no inaugural balls.
Biden and Harris will be sworn in at noon on 1/20 on the West Lawn of the Capitol. In-person attendance is limited to Congress due to safety protocols.
Instead of a traditional inaugural parade, the Bidens will arrive at the White House with a presidential escort consisting of representatives from every branch of the military.
Firefighter Andrea Hall will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman will recite a poem; Father Leo O’Donovan will deliver an invocation; and the benediction will be handled by Rev. Dr. Silvester Beaman.
A virtual candle-lighting ceremony honoring American lives lost due to COVID-19 will take place at 5:30pm on 1/19 at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
