In our new feature, Power Hitters, we shine a spotlight on the brilliant songwriters and producers behind the biggest smashes in the biz. These are the players who regularly step up to the plate and deliver a hit—and frequently drive it clear out of the park.
Andrew Watt
The Scooter Braun-repped songwriter/producer is the wizard behind smashes like Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s behemoth “Senorita,” Cabello’s unstoppable “Havana," 5SOS’s “Youngblood" and benny blanco f/Khalid and Halsey’s “Eastside.”
Watt recently served as executive producer of Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts, which includes lead single “Midnight Sky” and the hit Dua Lipa collab “Prisoner.” He kicked off 2021 with co-writer/co-producer credits on Justin Bieber’s latest heater, “Anyone.”
The guitarist turned producer's busy 2020 was buoyed by credits on Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding, Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man, Lipa’s Future Nostalgia and 5 Seconds of Summer’s Calm, among others. He capped the year with a Producer of the Year Grammy nom.
Expect Watt to do some shredding on Malone’s upcoming album.
