U.K. CHARTS: LADBABY CLAIMS CHRISTMAS #1

YouTube star LadBaby has claimed the U.K.’s Official Singles Christmas #1 with the charity release “Don’t Stop Me Eatin’.” Paul McCartney claims the festive top spot on the album chart with McCartney III (EMI).

“Don’t Stop Me Eatin’” is LadBaby’s third Christmas #1 and with 158,000 in sales, it's the fastest-selling single since Artists for Grenfell’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in June 2017. Downloads and CDs represented 94% of the total sales figure. Proceeds will go to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia) by Mariah Carey is at #2 today (12/25), and “Last Christmas” (RCA) by Wham! stays at #3.

Jess Glynne's rendition of Donny Hathaway's “This Christmas,” released as an Amazon Original, climbs five places to a new peak at #4.

Finally, here’s something that sums up the mood in the U.K: Cult Essex punk act The K**ts is new at #5 with an expletive-laden protest track about the British prime minister titled “Boris Johnson Is a F**king C**t.”

On the Official Albums Chart, McCartney III marks McCartney’s first solo chart-topper in 31 years, since 1989’s Flowers in the Dirt.

Taylor Swift’s evermore (EMI) moves down one place to #2, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe remain at #3 with Together at Christmas (Decca) and Classic Diamonds (Capitol) by Neil Diamond & LSO is at #4.

Eminem’s surprise deluxe edition of his former #1, Music to Be Murdered By (Polydor), lands at #7.
