LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: GRAMMY EDITION

As usual, our mailbag is overflowing with reader correspondence. In this installment (which is definitely NOT our first Letters to the Editor item since 1993), we present a missive from none other than much-discussed insider Tracy Gershon.

Dear Hits,

I was so thrilled to be mentioned in your magazine. The first time I appeared in Hits was when my son was born and you put his head on rapper Bushwick Bill’s body. Since I worked predominantly in country music back then, I asked you to at least put my son’s head on a big country superstar. Instead, you responded by putting Joey Ramone’s head on my son’s body in the next issue.

You got it wrong twice.

Last year you wrote about the influence and power I had in the Grammy Country Nomination Review Room. Funny thing, but I was not on that committee nor was I in the room last year.

This year (last week) you wrote about the controversy regarding my role in the Nominating Review room and once again, I was not on the committee nor was I in the room.

You got it wrong twice again.

At least you are consistent.

But thanks for the shout out!!! I wish I was the woman behind the curtain like you suggest… I would probably get some free meals!! Or at least a free subscription to Hits.

Tracy Gershon

HITS responds: Hi Tracy, thanks for the note; no wonder everyone is talking about you. We take your point that you weren't in the room; we understand that these things can now be handled remotely (and hygienically) via small Zoom sessions. In any case, please enjoy a HITS subscription at the "friends and family rate." Second prize is two subscriptions.
