"DREAMS" COME TRUE FOR PRIMARY WAVE

Stevie Nicks has sold a majority stake in her publishing catalog to Primary Wave Music, a sale that coincides with the newfound success of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.”

Primary Wave has purchased an 80% interest in the copyrights, which are valued at about $100m, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The deal includes songs she wrote for Fleetwood Mac—“Rhiannon” and “Landslide,” for example—as well as her solo career (“Edge of Seventeen,” “Stand Back”).

Primary Wave will represent Nicks in brand-alliance and brand-marketing opportunities and will partner with Kobalt on administration of the catalog. “Dreams” has gone viral over the last two months thanks to a Tik Tok video, which has bolstered sales and streams of the 1977 hit.

Additional terms of the deal include a strategic-publishing arrangement that will allow Nicks to sign new songwriters to a joint venture. She will also now have access to Primary Wave’s entire marketing, branding, Broadway, Film/TV and digital strategy teams, as well as their licensing and sync departments.

“To say we’re excited to welcome the incredible Stevie Nicks to the Primary Wave family would be a dramatic understatement,” PW CEO & Founder Larry Mestel said. “She is a true legend among legends.”

Nicks recently released her first new music in six years, “Show Them the Way,” which was accompanied by a Cameron Crowe-directed video.

Nicks’ manager, Sheryl Louis, and attorney Jamie Young negotiated the deal.
