TOWER RECORDS RETURNS AS ONLINE SHOP; GEEKS REJOICE, OPEN WALLETS

Iconic music emporium Tower Records has returned as an online store, selling vinyl, CDs, cassettes, merch and more. The relaunch was scheduled to kick off at SXSW this year, along with plans for pop-up shops, but the pandemic put the kibosh on that. Even so, it seems you can't keep a great record store down.

Danny Zeijdel, Tower's new CEO, said, "The return has been met with tremendous success and feedback. A lot of people are so happy, they're taking pictures when they receive an order from Tower Records, posting it on Instagram.”

The chain filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores 14 years ago. With nostalgia and a new generation of music fans reigniting the vinyl market, Tower's revival couldn't have come at a better time. The site even features a digital version of Tower Pulse.

Some of us have already dropped a few hundies on vintage vinyl and might eventually need a 12-step program. Just sayin'.

We like to think that somewhere, the late, great Russ Solomon is smiling. Visit Tower's virtual platter palace here.
