Music industry vet Ron Kaplan is lending a helping hand to the homeless population.
During the months of October and November, which is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, Kaplan’s nonprofit Citypak Project, along with its manufacturing partner, High Sierra, is distributing 5,000 durable, custom-made, weather-resistant backpacks to the homeless in 15 U.S. cities
This is CITYPAK’s largest initiative to date. In November alone, CITYPAK’s final distribution of 2020 will provide 500 backpacks to L.A.’s homeless youth, surpassing the nonprofit’s goal of giving away 75k backpacks nationwide.
Established in 2012, CITYPAK is an initiative of the Selma Breskin Kaplan Foundation.
L.A. community service partners include Safe Place for Youth, My Friend's Place, Covenant House, L.A. LGBT Youth Center, Step on Second, Youth Emerging Stronger and CHLA Division Adolescent and Youth Medicine.
