Kendrick Lamar has inked a global admin deal with Jody Gerson’s UMPG. The Top Dawg-repped artist has won 13 Grammys and a Pulitzer Prize, among countless other honors.
The hip-hop megastar’s last official album, 2017’s DAMN. (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) bowed at #1 and has since been certified triple platinum. The Black Panther ST, which Lamar produced and curated and to which he contributed, scored a #1 bow of its own early in 2018. His smash “Humble” was a multiplatinum mega-monster, while the Compton native’s “Alright” has become virtually canonical for the Black Lives Matter movement.
"Kendrick and I are excited for our new partnership with Jody Gerson and UMPG,” proclaimed Top (aka Anthony Tiffith). “Jody was passionate from the jump—she fought to make this deal happen.”
"Kendrick Lamar is not only one of the greatest lyricists that has ever lived, but he has done as much or more than any artist to promote much needed change in our society through music,” reads a quote from Gerson. “I and my colleagues at UMPG are deeply honored to be afforded the opportunity to join Kendrick, Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith and the TDE family to help forward his unique and important vision.”
