Harry Styles flexed his muscles as both an artist and a businessman 10/26, releasing a video for new single “Golden” and signing on as an investor in and consultant to the new arena in his hometown of Manchester.
Styles’ official video for “Golden” was directed by Ben and Gabe Turner, shot against the backdrop of Italy's Amalfi Coast. "Golden" is the third single from Fine Line (Columbia), the follow-up to “Watermelon Sugar” and “Adore You.”
Meanwhile, Styles has made his first significant move into the business world by investing in Oak View Group’s new venue in Manchester, Co-op Live. The arena, which will be the U.K.’s largest, is set to open in 2023.
As a boy, Styles delivered The Co-op News. As a man, he will work alongside OVG’s U.K. and international team—led by Tim Leiweke—to deliver world-leading experiences at Co-op Live. The focus will be on fans, unique premium and hospitality areas and artist spaces.
“I was drawn to this project on every level, from the opportunities it brings to the contribution it will make to the city, and most importantly, that it will allow even more live music to thrive in Manchester,” Styles said. “It's just another sign that this amazing city continues to grow.”
Co-op Live represents a £350m private investment in Manchester and will generate 3,500 jobs during construction. It will support a further 1,000 jobs during operation and bring more events to the city.
Francesca Bodie, OVG’s President of Business Development, said: “We’re focused on building one of the world’s best arenas in Manchester and Harry’s advice and consultation is going to be invaluable as we work to deliver that.”
